In 1913 when “Brownie” Perkins started the business he used horses and wagons to deliver furniture from local stores to homes.

In 1924 he replaced the horses with motor trucks and renamed the company F.R. Perkins Trucking Company.

In 1954 B. Edward Luglan purchased and incorporated the company then changed the name to Perkins Trucking, Inc.

In 1963 the name was changed to Perkins Furniture Transport, Inc reflecting that most of the cargo was furniture at the time.

In 1991 James and Barbara Card purchased the company.

In 1997 the name was changed again to Perkins Specialized Transportation, Inc to reflect the changing nature of the business – an air-ride transportation company providing expert, damage-free, time sensitive delivery of uncartoned and cartoned shipments to any point in the United States.

In 1996, Andy Card, oldest son of Jim and Barbara, joined the company and assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer. In 2003, Andy became President and CEO. In 2004, Andy assumed ownership of the company.
